Course Details
Level 1: practical and theory; mandatory units Construction Health & Safety, Skills for Bricklaying, Further Skills for Bricklaying; Functional Skills numeracy and literacy; work experience. Level 2: one year full or part-time; six units of competence, synoptic practical assignments and end-of-year exam; units include construct cavity walls, solid walls, H&S, setting out masonry structures, the construction industry. Evening L2: Mondays & Tuesdays 6-9pm.
Duration
Level 1 full-time: 1 year. Level 2 full-time: 1 year. Level 2 part-time evening: 34 weeks (6 hours per week). Level 1 part-time eve: 34 weeks (6 hours per week).
Entry Requirements
Level 1: a minimum of one GCSE at grade 2 and one GCSE at grade 3 in English & Maths or Level 1 Functional Skills. Level 2: Level 1 Brickwork, English & Maths GCSE Grade 9-3 or Level 1 Functional skills. Level 2 evening: Level 1 Diploma in Brickwork and a Functional skills qualification at the required level; informal advisory interview.

Level 1 full-time: September 2027. Level 2 full-time: September 2027. Level 2 part-time evening: 1st August 2027. Level 1 part-time eve: September 2026.
FEES & FUNDING
Students aged 16 to 18, or 16 to 24 with a valid EHCP, studying FE courses are not normally charged course fees. Adults may need to pay a fee depending on circumstances. Level 2 evening 2026/27: Overseas fees £3,129.20; Funded fees £2,629.20. Older Level 1 diploma page: if not qualifying for fee remission, fees for 2025/26 £1,005 plus registration fee.
