Course Details
Level 1: introduction to the construction industry, health and safety, brick and block walling. Level 2: aimed at anyone looking to work in construction as a craftsperson in bricklaying. Mandatory content: principles of construction; building cavity walls; building solid walls and piers; constructing basic arches; setting out buildings. Assessment: bricklaying theory exam, bricklaying synoptic assignment, and employer involvement. Apprenticeship: lay bricks, blocks and other components; CSCS card on completion; EPA knowledge test, skills test and oral questioning.
Duration
Level 1: 36 Weeks. Level 2: 36 Weeks. Apprenticeship: 2 Years.
Entry Requirements
Level 1: four GCSEs at grade 2 or equivalent (or above), including Maths and English. Level 2: four GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent (or above), preferably including GCSE Maths and English. If you do not have a GCSE grade 4 in Maths and/or English you will continue studying these subjects. Apprenticeship: if you have not yet achieved Level 2 English and maths, you must achieve this prior to taking your end-point assessment.
