Course Details
Level 1 develops skills, knowledge and understanding for progression to Level 2; core modules include Health and Safety in the Workplace; Technical Information; Quantities and Communication; Knowledge of Construction Technology; Mix Construction Materials; Set Out and Build Basic Masonry Structures; assessed via practical Task Manual and theory-based assessment. Level 2 Wet Trades (Brickwork) develops competence to work as a bricklayer; core modules include Health and Safety in the Workplace; Setting out and Erecting Masonry Structures; Conforming to productive working practices; Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace; assessed via knowledge testing, practical assessments, work based evidence and direct observation. Technology & Skills Centre is a satellite of Erne Campus and houses construction trades programmes. Academic year 26/27; 15 hours per week; 36 weeks; interview required. Entry Requirements
Level 1: no formal entry requirements; learners must have the potential to successfully gain the qualification; minimum age 16 years. Level 2: minimum of a Level 1 qualification defined as 4 GCSEs at Grade D-G; Maths Grade D; English Grade E. Applicants who do not meet the entry criteria will enter an Introductory Phase of the Traineeship; upon enrolment trainees undertake initial assessments which confirm full Traineeship or Introductory Phase. Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT if GCSE Grade C or Level 2 Essential Skills not held.
