Course Details
NPA/Pre-Apprenticeship: half brick walling; place and finish non-specialist concrete; one brick walling; simple arch construction; simple decorative brickwork; fundamentals of cavity walling; access platforms and equipment; construction drawing; construction studies; measuring and costing; building materials. PDA Advanced Craft (Paisley): constructing brickwork arches; architectural and feature brickwork; curved walls on plan and elevation; setting out and establishing levels; steps in brick and concrete; domestic construction technology; technical communication skills; planning and completing a brickwork project.
Duration
NPA/Pre-Apprenticeship: 1 year/36 weeks, 2.5 days per week. PDA Advanced Craft: 10 weeks block release.
Entry Requirements
NPA Brickwork: three National 4s in English; Mathematics or Applications of Maths; Science or a Technical subject. PDA Advanced Craft: SVQ3 in Bricklaying or equivalent; successful completion of Year 2 of a Modern Apprenticeship in Bricklaying; relevant and demonstrable industry experience.
