Course Details
Level 1: mixing mortar, cutting components, laying bricks and blocks; safe working practices; information, quantities and communicating; building methods and construction technology; basic block laying, bricklaying, cavity walling; setting out basic masonry structures up to DPC. Apprenticeship knowledge delivered at Trowbridge, Chippenham and Salisbury campuses; attend college 1 day per week during term time over two years; EPA in college.
Duration
Level 1: 1 year. Apprenticeship: up to 24 months (page also lists duration 1 year and Flexible start). Entry 3 Construction Skills: 1 year.
Entry Requirements
Level 1: 4 GCSEs at Grade 2 or above, including English and Maths, or equivalent; successful interview. Apprenticeship: must have achieved a GCSE grade 1 or Functional Skills level 1 in Maths and English and be willing to work towards Functional Skills 2. Entry 3 Construction Skills: 4 GCSEs at Grade 1 or above, including English and Maths, or equivalent; successful interview.
