🚨 28 Social Homes at Risk of Demolition Over Elevation Dispute – Bricklayers Online Reports

A nearly-finished development of 28 social housing units in Kilmeaden, Co Waterford may have to be demolished, after the local council claimed the homes were built 3–4 metres too high.
According to Bricklayers Online, the development — being built by Cosmo Development Kilmeadan Ltd for Waterford City & County Council — was hit with a planning enforcement order over the finished floor levels (FFL) being above what's allowed in the planning permission.
Cosmo argues that a planning document error is to blame, and says complying with the order would involve demolishing the homes, removing thousands of truckloads of soil, and rebuilding everything at a lower level.
The dispute centres around a temporary benchmark introduced late in the process — a move the developer says retroactively changed the approved elevation plan.
The High Court has now granted Cosmo Development permission to seek a judicial review, and paused the demolition order until the case returns later this month.
